I am Meggie Rodman and although I am from the United States, I have spent my life between Utah and Germany. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and have worked with children from infants to teens in a variety of therapeutic, educational, and recreational settings for the past 12 years. I’m passionate about teaching children to navigate their world with confidence and kindness, and creating spaces of learning where every child and family feels welcomed and valued.

Originally from Oregon, USA, I've been living in Berlin for the past nine years. With a professional Bachelor's degree in Social Work, I have spent the last eight years teaching and creating nurturing environments for international families in both Kitas and schools. My passion lies in empowering children through creativity and inquiry, fostering a love for learning in a supportive and engaging space.
Our Story
We met while teaching at an international school in Berlin and quickly connected over our shared approach to teaching, love for the arts, children’s literature, and play-based learning. Whether through music, textiles, or sensory art projects, we found joy in creating with children and using artistic expression as a tool for learning. In and out of the classroom, our collaboration felt natural. We also discovered a shared commitment to gentleness, nurturance, inclusion, fun, and adaptability—creating spaces where children feel safe, seen, and encouraged to grow.
As we continued teaching together in the international school system, we noticed a gap in what was available for young children and their families in the community. Many international families were looking for more—more connection, more support, and more opportunities for their children to learn and grow outside of Kita or school.
That’s where Friendship in the Feld began. Living in Schillerkiez, we love Berlin and everything it has to offer. Tempelhofer Feld, with its open spaces and sense of freedom, has been a huge inspiration for us—both as a gathering place and as a reminder of how nature fosters curiosity and exploration. We incorporate natural materials and outdoor learning into our approach, encouraging children to connect with the world around them through play.
What started as a professional partnership turned into a friendship, and now into a shared vision. Friendship in the Feld is our way of bringing families together, bridging the gap between home and early education, and celebrating the joy of learning.
Come join us in the feld! 🌿✨
